Sept. 15-21 sketches

Sketches from trains, buses and lunch breaks this past week. I didn’t get as many done as I should have… It was a pretty exhausting week. But I got the obligatory random naked girl, ensuring that my mother will continue to be ashamed of my internet presence.:)

Wee Probot Model II: Probot Another Day

After gathering up a few critiques from some helpful friends and strangers, here’s the updated version: a much better normal map, boosted emissive and less washed-out lighting. I’m much happier with it now.

(Again, the original probot design is from Carbine‘s WildStar.)

Specs: 1878 tris, 512×512 color+alpha, spec+gloss, normal and glow
Software: Maya, Photoshop, nDo2 (displayed in UDK)

(Updated 09/22 to reflect a few last tweaks I did to the model.)

Wee Probot Model

I just finished up this little probot fellow (gleefully stolen from Carbine‘s WildStar) as bit of practice working with more stylized textures. I’m pretty happy with how it came out, but man have I got a ways to go.

Specs: 1878 tris, 512×512 color+alpha, spec+gloss, normal and glow

Software: Maya, Photoshop, (displayed in UDK)

Train sketches from 11-14

Sketches from the past four days (three, really, because I was lame and missed a day). Featuring animals that are almost like normal animals, but then ruin it by being not actually an armadillo or a rabbit.

I might, possibly, be the worst ever at drawing robots.c:

Critter sketches

Just some critters I’ve been drawing the past few days on the train to start getting back into my daily habits. Good grief I’m rusty.:P

The Full(ish) Nerd Girlies Pin-Up Deck

Watercolor with some minute amount of colored pencil and inked borders

I started this deck back in November as a Christmas present for my partner. It got dropped for all the other Christmas presents I’d decided needed to be hand-made until around New Year, and I finally got it delivered early in February. Altogether it was about ten weeks of work.

To his credit, or my discredit, it’s not the last Christmas present I’ll be delivering retroactively for last year.

You can click the image to open a version about three times this size. There’s also a cheat sheet if you feel like testing your nerd mettle.

Magnemite WIP and sketch

Trying to make a realistic (quote unquote) Magnemite. A little more work on the screws and then he’s off to Zbrush.

SNES controller. Somewhere between 120 and 150 minutes, did a bad job tracking.
